Is This The Fast I Desire? Action for Family Reunification

Sunday, July 22

3 pm – 4:30 pm at Pico / Robertson Intersection

IKAR is proud to co-sponsor this Tisha B’Av Action for Family Reunification.

At the hottest time of the year, the Jewish community comes together to grieve, in a 25 hour fast, for the many historical tragedies that have befallen us, and for the ways in which our world is still so broken—and the ways that we can and must fix that. This year Bend the Arc: Jewish Action and the Jewish community together with our multifaith partners, name the brokenness in our society which must be fixed: We must reunify immigrant families separated at the border, we must stop criminalizing those seeking asylum, we must stop detaining children and families seeking refuge. We demand that ICE stop wreaking havoc and sowing destruction amongst our immigrant family!

“This is the fast I desire: To unlock fetters of wickedness, and untie the cords of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free.” (Isaiah 58:6)
This action is co-sponsored by Bend the Arc Jewish ActionCLUE: Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice, Episcopal Diocese L.A. Sacred Resistance, LA Voice, Pacific Presbytery, and IKAR.
