L.A. Landscapes – FOREST

L.A. Landscapes – December 2018 through April 2019

FOREST: December 9

LOCATION: Switzer Falls Trail, 701 Angeles Crest Hwy, Tujunga, CA 91042

DIRECTIONS: From the 210 Freeway in La Cañada Flintridge, take the Angeles Crest Highway (CA 2) northwest for 10 miles to the Switzer Picnic Area. If the lot at the picnic area is full, additional parking is located at the top of the road.

We will rendezvous at the picnic tables at 10AM. Don’t forget to pick up your Adventure Pass – and display it – to avoid your car being ticketed or towed. The Adventure Pass can be purchased at the Shell station off the 210 and Angeles Crest Highway: 4530 Angeles Crest Hwy, La Cañada Flintridge, CA 91011.

Los Angeles offers an incredible diversity of natural landscapes – from mountain to sea, forest to desert. What would it mean to look at the city we live in through the lens of Jewish Tradition? Join our newest Angeleno, Rabbi David Kasher, as we head out to explore the land around us on a series of “hike-and-learns.” Each half-day Sunday will include both a trek into nature, and some time to sit and reflect together on the Torah’s wisdom on the natural world.  Our conversations will help us shift our consciousness and allow us to look up again at the world, to see it with new eyes.
