L.A. Landscapes – Monthly through May 2019
Next Up: MOUNTAIN – April 14
See you THIS Sunday for Echo Mountain! We will rendezvous at 10AM. Please note that this is the most strenuous of our LA Landscapes series to date. It will be approx a 90 minute ascent. And come ready with plenty of water and snacks!
Here’s a link to some details about the hike, but the coordinates provided may offer slightly misguided directions – so here’s what we recommend: Take the Lake Avenue exit from the 210 freeway, follow Lake Ave directly north until you arrive at the corner of Lake Ave and Loma Alta Drive in Alta Dena. There, you will see a large gate that says Cobb Estate and a smaller sign that says Sam Merrill Trail. Park in the neighborhood and meet Rabbi Kasher inside that gate and he’ll take you from there! Also! If you’re interested in carpooling, please see this awesome spreadsheet IKARite Pesach Chaniah put together to help you find your people.

Los Angeles offers an incredible diversity of natural landscapes – from mountain to sea, forest to desert. What would it mean to look at the city we live in through the lens of Jewish Tradition? Join our newest Angeleno, Rabbi David Kasher, as we head out to explore the land around us on a series of “hike-and-learns.” Each half-day Sunday will include both a trek into nature, and some time to sit and reflect together on the Torah’s wisdom on the natural world. Our conversations will help us shift our consciousness and allow us to look up again at the world, to see it with new eyes.
