Are you a synagogue or what? Yes and no and kinda. Words like “synagogue” can feel constraining, and we want to think expansively about what Jewish life can be… so we think of ourselves as a spiritual community, and let the experience define itself.

Rabbi Brous and the people around her envisioned making Judaism alive. There was no plan or manifesto. And, no funding. They imagined if they created a community committed to social justice and Jewish learning, with programs aimed at formerly neglected groups, people would come.
