Dina was raped. Then, for two thousand years, our Rabbis told us that it was her fault. Healing is possible, but we have to be willing to call out the violent, misogynistic assumptions of our culture, even—and perhaps especially—when they appear in our sacred traditions. We have to not only take back the night, but take back the day as well.
