The link between the Golden Calf and Purim is the assertion– from Moses to Mordechai– that the matter depends on us, that we just may have been called to stand up at a moment like this. As corporations are beginning to curb gun sales and perks for the NRA, we have to ask: what’s different now? Just like in Selma in 1965, today an army of students across the country is heeding the call, recognizing that the matter just might depend on them. They are rising up to demand change. Will we?
