Are you a synagogue or what? Yes and no and kinda. Words like “synagogue” can feel constraining, and we want to think expansively about what Jewish life can be… so we think of ourselves as a spiritual community, and let the experience define itself.

As ICE raids begin to sweep the immigrant community, we must remember that we, too, are border people. Turned away, again and again, in our moments of greatest vulnerability. There are many good reasons not to act, but we know that ultimately, we are defined not by the battles we hide from, but those we choose to fight.
