Adventure Circle – Hike

Join IKAR’s Adventure Circle for a moderate 5 mile round trip Hike on the Brentwood Mountaingate Canyonback Trail to Upper Canyonback Trail to the historic Nike Missile Site, led by Jeff Zimerman. Hike ends appox 1:30 p.m.

HIKE: This moderate 5-mile round trip hike with 400 ft of elevation boasts stunning views of the ocean, downtown and the valley.  At the halfway point under a wooden picnic gazebo we will have lunch. Leashed Dogs are welcome. Restrooms and a water fountain are at the halfway point, but not at the trailhead. There is both a wide flat fire road and a narrow single-track running along Canyonback Ridge allowing hikers to choose their own trail adventure. –

Poetry can often heal, elevate the soul and awaken the heart. Come join IKAR’s Jewish Poetry Circle as we read Jewish poets — the Oneg Shabbos poets of the Warsaw Ghetto, Medieval Sephardic poets, Israeli and Jewish-American poets up to the present—the historical context of their writing, spiritual relationships, personal agonies and joys. The Circle is not an academic writing class but rather an informal experience of a committed group of participants to explore and hopefully bond with Jewish poetic expression and with each other.
