TRIBE (20s-30s)
We are seekers and skeptics, Hebrew school dropouts and lovers of Torah, activists, artists, and summer campanatics looking for meaningful Jewish connection and ready to find our people. We craft regular TRIBE-specific programs for the heart, mind, and soul.
We have a variety of monthly events, from hiking to coworking spaces, there’s something for everyone!
We typically have hike and learns, art circles, coworking spaces, singing circles, havdalah, learnings, and shabbat dinners.

Revisionist Histories: July TribeSchool (20s-30s) with Rabbinic Intern Jacob Schatz
Revisionist Histories
The book of Deuteronomy begins with Moses recounting stories of the Israelites’ journey through the wilderness – but his retellings do not match the original accounts in Exodus, Leviticus, and Numbers. Why does he change the story? How do the narratives we tell ourselves shape our mission as a people? Which stories do we subscribe to – both ancient and contemporary – and which stories do we need to revisit?

About TribeSchool:
Once a month, TRIBE is creating our own Beit Midrash (house of study) for us to engage with Jewish text to find how we can live more fulfilling, meaningful lives. Each session will take us on a journey of text exploration and introspective work. Part of the session will be studying in hevruta, or with a study partner, and part of the session will be taught by Rabbinic Intern Jacob Schatz. No previous text study required! Join us for dinner, study, and lively discussion.

Minyan Tzedek x TRIBE: Walking Tour of Jewish East LA
Join IKAR TRIBE and Minyan Tzedek for a guided tour of “Jewish Boyle Heights: Memories of Brooklyn Ave.,” a walking tour led by Shmuel Gonzales, the legendary “Barrio Boychik” and one of LA’s most beloved neighborhood historians.
Together, we’ll explore the organizing, immigrant, labor, and multiracial Jewish history of Boyle Heights through the streets that shaped a generation of Jewish Los Angeles. From mutual aid networks to anti-fascist organizing, the tour offers a glimpse into our city’s long history of Jewish solidarity.
*Metro is highly encouraged, we will meet at La Cienega Park to take the D Line together at 11am *
Free for IKAR members. Suggested $18 donation for non-members. Bring lunch money for our stop at Un Solo Sol after!
