Summer Shabbat Celebration
Join us on Saturday, August 9th for our Summer Shabbat Celebration, the kickoff to our new Adopt-a-Shabbat campaign. We’re transforming the Shalhevet rooftop into a Catskills-style retreat with all the best parts of summer:
Watermelon slices & popsicles
BBQ vibes (without the grill)
Water play & bubbles for the kids
Sangria, beer, cornhole for the grown-ups
Crafts for a cause, supporting children experiencing homelessness through Mandie’s Worthy of Love
Soulful Torah service followed by rooftop shenanigans
👉 Contribute to the Shabbat Meal Fund
🕊️ Kids’ celebration begins during Shabbat services, and everyone joins in after services for a special summer lunch.
🎉 Have an August birthday, anniversary, or summer smicha? Come celebrate with your Shabbat family. School may be out, but that doesn’t mean you have to miss out.
🍽️ Sharing food together is always an IKAR priority—and while Shabbat lunch is always free and inclusive, this special celebration is our chance to pay it forward. We’re aiming for 30 people to contribute $100 each to help cover this summer Shabbat and support our Shabbat Meal Fund (SMF) through the busy seasons ahead.
📣 Got ideas for future Shabbat themes or want your circle to host one? We’re planning to do this quarterly—and would love your creativity. Contact [email protected]!
If you love summer, if you love popsicles, if you love flip-flops… this Shabbat’s for you.
Creating Circle
Sunday, Aug 10 • 1 pm to 3:30 pm
Creating Circle: The Amen Effect (Session 2)
Join us as we explore: The Amen Effect (session 2) We’ll use pieces from Rabbi Brous’s book ‘The Amen Effect’ to explore the healing powers of community and kindness.
The IKAR Creating Circle is rooted in the Jewish Studio Process. Each session invites you to a hands-on, in-person experience as a creative soul —no art experience needed. Through text study, reflection, and creative processes, you’ll tap into your own insight, get clearer, and grow more resilient. The Creating Circle is a welcoming space for you to slow down, speak and listen, and be in touch with your innate creativity. The Jewish Studio Process is structured and open-ended. What emerges is often unexpected. It’s not about making ‘art’, but it’s about discovering what is true for you. You’ll leave lighter, more grounded, and more connected to your own voice.
