Lunch & Learn: Trans Allyship: What’s Really Happening to Trans Youth, Trans Adults, and Their Families

Hear from Ikar members directly impacted by the recent onslaught of anti-trans legislation and rhetoric, as well as from a medical practitioner and therapist working directly with this vulnerable community. You will come away with a deeper understanding of the trans experience, the reality of what is currently happening, and what you can do to help. We encourage all people of trans experience and parents of trans kids to also attend.

Dates: Friday, April 25th, 2025 (4 pm check-in) through Sunday, April 27th, 2025 (11am check-out) IKAR is packing its bags, shutting down our phones, and getting OUTSIDE for our annual Shabbaton. Shabbaton is an opportunity to get out of the city, get to know your fellow IKARites in the fresh mountain air and get immersed in the restorative spirit of Shabbat in the beautiful hills of Ojai. Meet fellow IKARites: Dine, daven, and adventure with friends old and new. Get Unstuck: Let the great outdoors recharge your spiritual battery. Kids & Family Programming: We’ll have activities that are educational and fun for IKAR kids age 2 years old through 7th grade. Text Study & Discussion: Dialogue, debate and dig into Torah with our beloved rabbis. It’s everything you love about learning together but in nature.

Pre-Shabbat Boomers (60+) Virtual Happy Hour

Wind down and get ready for Shabbat with us! Join our virtual Happy Hour, every Friday at 5pm PST. We are diverse: still working and retired; single, divorced, widowed, and in a relationship; have children, grandchildren, pets, plants, or none of the above; Angelinos and transplants. What we have in common is Ikar, a multitude of experiences, and a desire to spend some of our time enjoying events and experiences with those in our age group. Approximately 60 and above.
