Feeding our neighbors
IKAR’s longtime project to bring dinner and conversation to veterans who are overcoming homelessness at People Assisting the Homeless (P.A.T.H.) Cotner’s location. We cook and serve dinner twice a month to about 30 residents. Those who serve the meal stay to talk and share companionship with the residents while they eat.
Start 5785 by serving meals and breaking bread with our neighbors at PATH. This November we have two opportunities to serve. Join us on December 12th and 24th– note that this is the second Thursday and Fourth Tuesday of the month!
How can I participate?
You can participate in two ways: by dropping off your selected contributions or by bringing your dish and serving dinner to the community from 5:30-7pm
Who can participate?
Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age to serve meals at PATH, but we encourage you to make a dish at home with younger children and drop it off if they are too young to serve.
How much food should I prepare/purchase?
We expect to serve 25-30 PATH clients during each event. Please bring enough food to serve 20 guests as it will be served potluck style.
Does food need to be home cooked?
No, participants can feel free to prepare meals at home or bring store bought items to serve.
Should participants expect to cook items onsite?
No, please bring pre-cooked dishes. There will be an oven to warm up items, if needed.
