Network
Sometimes we need hesed, and sometimes we’re in the perfect position to offer it to another. Olam Hesed Yibaneh — let’s build a world, and a community, of loving-kindness.
Hesed (loving kindness) comes in many forms: reaching out in times of loss or hardship, delivering a meal, running an errand, or extending a Shabbat invitation.
IKAR’s Hesed Network delivers care packages, Shabbat baskets, prepared meals, and timely assistance to IKAR members in times of loss and celebration. By joining the Hesed Network in your neighborhood, you’ll receive emails that ask you to volunteer to support fellow IKARites in your community.
Sign up for a meal train
Not a great cook? No worries. Signing up for a meal train can be as simple as ordering a meal from a restaurant or sending a food delivery gift certificate.
Drive fellow IKARites
Have a flexible schedule? Helping a fellow IKARite get to a doctor’s appointment or come to shul is such a meaningful way to contribute (while making a new friend!)
Hevra Kadisha
The Hevra Kadisha is a group of IKAR volunteers who take responsibility for accompanying, caring for, and preparing the deceased for burial. Serving on the Hevra Kadisha is a profound and concrete way to extend love and care to grieving families, while offering one final act of kindness to the deceased community member. For more information, either about joining or making arrangements, email Rabbi Panitz.
Shiva Team
IKAR’s Shiva Team is called upon to make a minyan or bring food to a house of mourning. By joining the Shiva Team, you’ll receive emails notifying you of opportunities to show up when it matters most.
