Kol Nidre (Wed, Oct 1 @ 6pm) and Yom Kippur (Thurs, Oct 2 @ 9am) Information
- Doors open at 5:30pm on 10/1
- Doors open at 8:30am on 10/2
- Wear white. It’s our custom to wear all white on Kol Nidre and Yom Kippur.
- Bring your photo ID, and if you’ve already picked them up, IKARd, lanyard, and holder.
- Volunteer and start the year off with good deeds under your belt. Sign-up, especially for the following areas:
-Help direct people as they enter
-Monitor the lines (and schmooze a little)
-Welcome people at the sanctuary entrance and honor’s board
-Break down and set up for Break Fast - On Yom Kippur, please bring store-bought baby formula and drop it off at the front, before security. In the wake of recent immigration raids, the Los Angeles Metropolitan YMCA has been a vital lifeline for families in crisis, championing their message: Todos Pertenecen al Y, Everyone Belongs at the Y.
- Park in permit-parking-only relaxed areas around Shalhevet. But you’ll still get a ticket for metered parking, red zones, including bus zones, yellow/white zones, disabled zones, alleys, and sidewalks.
- If needed, an ADA drop-off parking area is available right in front of Shalhevet.
- If possible, bring your own tallit and Mahzor Lev Shalem (we’ll have them for those who need them but helpful if can b.y.o.t.m.l.s.)
