Green Action

As we face an unprecedented ecological and climate emergency, Green Action activists are focused on radically transforming our lives, our communities, our city, and the planet. We invite all IKAR members to join our monthly Minyan Tzedek Green Action meeting to build our environmental education and advocacy power. We’re working with local and national partners to save the planet, firmly rooted in our Jewish spirit and values.

Minyan Tzedek Green Action’s Homegrown Produce Share Shabbat
In honor of Earth Day—April 22, but it’s every day with Green Action—we’re hosting an early-springtime Homegrown Produce Share Shabbat in the Shalhevet lobby throughout services. Maybe you’re already planting late-spring and summer vegetables, but if you have citrus, herbs, other crops, or homemade goodies from them, please share! And if you have none, that’s way OK—help yourself to fellow IKARites’ bounty! Remember, sharing what we grow fights climate change and builds community! Any q’s? email us at [email protected].

Minyan Tzedek Green Action Presents: Transit Shabbat and Walking Tour of the New D Line at Fairfax Station
Join Green Action as we explore and celebrate the brand-new underground Metro station and D Line at Wilshire and Fairfax—right by Shalhevet! During services, we’ll display every transit route to IKAR, and after lunch we’ll stroll over to admire the magnificent original art and all the amenities at this station’s Grand Opening! Q’s? Email Green Action at [email protected].

IKARgo to Shabbat services
Minyan Tzedek Green Action wants to help you connect with your friendly neighborhood fellow IKARites to ride transit together to Shabbat services.

Here’s how it works:

  1. To ride with us, fill out the IKARtransit Survey here!
  2. We will reply with a transit route and a volunteer leader from your neighborhood will reach out to coordinate riding transit together with other IKARites from your area.
  3. You meet up on Shabbat at an agreed upon transit stop and ride together!

It’s fun! It’s social! It’s good for you and for the planet!

If you’ve never or rarely used public transportation in LA, we can get you up to speed with this guide for how to ride transit to IKAR/Shalhevet.
