Getting to the Heart of Environmental Disaster

Shabbat Bo Sermon. Water pollution, crop damage, species extinction, and extreme weather patterns – the Ten Plagues of Egypt provide a striking Biblical parallel to one of the great challenges of our generation: environmental disaster. So what insight does the Book of Exodus offer into the human experience when the forces of nature spin out of control? Perhaps we can discover, in this classic tale, a sense of what the religious response to such a crisis might be.
