Each year, our cup–and our space–overflow with the power of our community as we come together to celebrate High Holy Days.

To accommodate as many people as possible, we will hold two concurrent services on the first day of Rosh Hashanah, Kol Nidrei and the morning of Yom Kippur, one inside and one outside, just as we have the past several years. Both services are designed to capture the fullness of the High Holy Day experience at Shalhevet High School.

Rabbi Brous, Rabbi Panitz, Rabbi Silver, and Rabbi Jensen will be speaking and teaching in both services, on rotation throughout. All sermons will be shared in both locations.

The indoor service will be led musically by Hazzan Hillel Tigay, and the outdoor by Rabbi Ronit Tsadok.

All IKAR members are welcome to choose the service that best suits your needs– indoor or outdoor. You may even choose to move back and forth between the two if you’d like to experience the spirit of both.

With an expanded tent on the premises this year, we are thrilled to be able to accommodate more guests and visitors, who are welcome to join us inside on Erev Rosh Hashanah and Rosh Hashanah II, and in our outdoor service on Rosh Hashanah I, Kol Nidrei, and Yom Kippur morning.

Please note that the whole community will be together outside for the afternoon service and Neilah on Yom Kippur day.

Inside + Outside FAQ:

I’m a member but want to invite a dear friend, who is not (yet) a member to join me in High Holiday services. Does this mean we can’t sit together? We love that you’re bringing friends to experience the magic of IKAR, and yes– we want you to sit with your people. Due to our truly limited space inside, we encourage people who are bringing guests to sit comfortably in our outdoor service. But if you are committed to joining us inside, as a courtesy feel free to bring in one guest.

I’m an IKARd purchaser, but I really want the inside experience. What should I do? Wonderful! We invite you to make it official, to join our community and help us support and sustain the good work of IKAR throughout the year, where we have a seat for you all year long.

I love the energy at IKAR High Holy Days, but I’ve had trouble finding a seat in years past. How will this new approach affect my prospects of finding a good seat this year? Well that is precisely the inspiration for this new policy, friends. We will do everything we can to seat members in the place of their preference– either inside or out. And we’re committed to keeping IKAR’s doors open to every guest who wants to come experience the holiday with us.

I, or someone I love, uses ASL interpretation or has other accessibility needs. Can we be assured a seat inside? We will do our best to accommodate everyone inside. Please let us know at [email protected].
