HERE, YOU ARE HUMAN

Reflect Here by Aug 28

We see the High Holy Days this year as a small counter-cultural rebellion. An invitation, in a world of heartache and uncertainty, into deep connection and presence, compassion and aspiration. Spiritual nourishment, which we hope will feed our souls and remind us of our humanity.

To prepare our hearts, we ask you this year to share an image: a place where, or a moment when, you have felt deeply, profoundly, irreducibly human.

We’ll create a photo gallery of these images, along with 1-3 sentence descriptions: where are you, physically and maybe spiritually, in this image? What helped you access your core humanity there?

Our ancestor Jacob, waking from his dream of angels ascending and descending the ladder, exclaims: “How awesome is this place!” It was there he recognized God’s presence, his own expansiveness, and a spirit of holiness that permeates the world, but which we often cannot feel. We hope these images—lifting up the places, people, and moments that remind us what matters most—will inspire in all of us a deeper connection to our humanity.

We love being in community with you, and we look forward to meaningful, joyful, reflective, connective days ahead together.

With blessings
